river
fishing in perthshire |
Highland Perthshire is a very special river fishing place. The
Tay river system drains a land filled with superb fishing and angling
rivers and lochs, large and small. Fishing in Scotland doesn’t
get any better than this. An abundance of great fishing for wild
brown trout, salmon, pike, rainbow trout and coarse fish in truly
majestic, yet very tranquil surroundings. Here are the highlights
of superb river Tay and Tay tributary fishing opportunities in Perthshire
from this superb network – all of which we can arrange for
you, with or without rods and tackle, ghillie, tuition, lunch and
hospitality..
River Tummel.
Catch - salmon, trout, grayling, odd sea trout.
A few salmon fishing opportunities exist on the Tummel above Loch
Faskally and there is excellent trout and pike fishing to be had.
The River Tummel drains an extensive system of rivers and lochs
and provides top class fishing opportunities for game and coarse
anglers. It emerges at the east end of Loch Tummel, to flow towards
Loch Faskally and Pitlochry. This is a beautiful stretch of river
that has some very interesting wild trout fishing.
River Ericht.
Catch - salmon, trout.
To the east of the area we cover, the Ericht has good runs of salmon
and grilse. This is small river salmon fishing at its best. The
Ericht also maintains a very good trout population.
River Tay.
Catch - salmon, trout, sea trout, grayling.
We specialise in the upper Tay - from Kenmore Bridge to Ballinluig
here the famous river Tay is a medium sized river with many beats
with excellent salmon and trout fishing. Salmon fishing is easily
available at most times. Good grayling.
River Gaur.
Catch:- Wild Brown, Ferrox Trout, Pike and Perch.
An Attractive 2 mile strech of river flowing East from Loch Eaigheach towards Loch Rannoch.
It produces some fantastic trout throughout the season either from the fly or spinner.
With a mixture of shallow white water rapids and deep slow flowing pools the River Gaur is an ideal place for the beginner through to the experienced fisherman.
And – the River Spey – a little further away, but closer than you think - and a great day out
Catch - salmon, trout. Pike, sea trout
The famous River Spey runs for over 100 miles from source to sea. It is the fastest flowing river in Europe and falls 1100 feet over it's course. It is perfectly suited to fly fishing for salmon. Fish can be taken anywhere along it's course but the serious fishing begins as the river reaches Aviemore. Not only does the main river offer a great variety of fishing but a number of tributaries, in particular the Rivers Avon and Dulnain, are excellent salmon rivers in their own right.
